Circuit Judge Angela M. Cox, Division E

Governor Rick Scott appointed Judge Cox to the Circuit Court in 2014. She served in the Criminal Division and currently serves in the Family and Dependency Divisions in Clay County. Judge Cox was also appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in 2005 as a County Court Judge. For nine years, Judge Cox served as a County Court Judge, where she presided over criminal, civil, small claims, and traffic court cases. Before becoming a judge, she served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. During her tenure there, she was awarded the Outstanding Young Prosecutor Award, was part of the Homicide Team, Special Assault Division and the Repeat Offender Court. FAMILY AND DEPENDENCY COURTS

Ex Parte Instructions – *Read instructions in their entirety before requesting to set.*

Until further notice, Ex Parte hearings in Division E will be held remotely using the Zoom video conference application; there will be no in-person ex parte hearings. The Court will be the Zoom Host. Matters heard during ex parte are: Uncontested Dissolution (DOM) & Paternity (PAT) matters and Counsel Withdrawal matters. To set an ex parte hearing on the following, email the Judicial Assistant at gonzalezd@clayclerk.com submitting the following requirements, without which the matter will not be set:

  • Uncontested DOM/PAT matters: the parties are to choose an agreed upon ex parte date, submit: 1) the completed Uncontested Checklist, 2) attach a copy of the driver’s license of the client giving testimony, and 3) the fully-executed Consent Final Judgment along with any appropriate attachments. Please note: after review, additional information and/or documents may be required before confirmation.
  • Counsel Withdrawal matters: choose an ex parte date, submit the Motion to Withdrawal along with a Proposed Order in Word format and advise whether the client: 1) does not consent to the withdrawal or, 2) is unresponsive. Please note: opposing counsel/party is not required to appear.
  • Motions to Set matters:  are not heard during ex parte at this time. Trials and hearings are set via email to the Judicial Assistant following these instructions:
    • To set Trial: Parties are required to file a Motion to Set Trial. The parties are required to complete the Court’s Trial Set Memorandum and email both the Motion to Set and Trial Set Memo to the Judicial Assistant.
    • To set Hearings that are more than 1-hour: the parties are required to complete the Court’s Motion Hearing Memorandum and email the Motion Hearing Memo to the Judicial Assistant.
    • To set Hearings that are 1-hour or less: email the Motion(s) you wish to set to the Judicial Assistant indicating how much hearing time is needed.

The Judicial Assistant will confirm the ex parte date and provide the parties with the Court’s Zoom Meeting link & ID and further instructions. A Notice of Hearing should not be filed until confirmation has been received.
